The following link is a statement released by the Youth Correctional Leaders for Justice (YCLJ), which offers recommendations to youth justice systems and facilities in response to COVID-19. CJJA encourages agency leaders to review the statement and to also consider how to responsibly approach the early release of youth within their systems. Any decision to release a youth should follow proper reentry protocols. Plans should also be in place to ensure that the youth can be safely cared for in their homes and communities in a manner that also provides public safety during these challenging times. CJJA continues to support proper release and reentry protocols that will ensure for the youths safety, health, wellbeing and potential for long-term success.
